Bride’s pride in Harrison Murray
When Angela Troughton married husband Ian the last thing she expected was her estate agent to be a well-wisher at the church on the big day.
But that’s exactly what happened - and it was a caring gesture that underlined the “excellent” service she says she received throughout the process of selling her home in Harpenden with the help of Harrison Murray Estate Agency.
Piano teacher Angela, who was on the property market when she tied the knot in September 2016, takes up the tale: “Estate agents often get a bad press but my experiences with Harrison Murray in Harpenden have shown them to be an extremely safe pair of hands.
“I bought with their help in 2009 when the property market was sluggish - there was a complicated chain but they kept me in the loop throughout and reassured me they were fighting my corner.
“More recently, when I came to sell the property, they were the obvious choice to assist - particularly as Sally from Harrison Murray had shown my then husband-to-be Ian and I around a few properties we were interested in buying.
“Once again they stepped up to the mark. You often feel helpless as a seller and that there’s nothing you can do but that didn’t matter in this instance because Sally was extremely proactive from the off and showed great expertise as she dealt with solicitors and the buyers and cut through any challenges that arose.
“I didn’t think there was anything more she could do to show what a star she is but then when Ian and I got married in September Sally truly proved her willingness to go the extra mile.
“When I arrived it was a lovely surprise to see Sally outside the church. Although she was working and therefore couldn’t stay for the service she wanted to pass on her best wishes and to say good luck. It’s a fabulous gesture that I’ll never forget.”
The Sally in question is Harrison Murray’s Harpenden-based sales negotiator Sally Powell, who saw through a sale which had its difficult moments, and in doing so played her part in Angela being able to move in with Ian in nearby St. Albans.
Her Harrison Murray experiences have ultimately left Angela, 55, with a very different view of estate agents to the negative one that is often the stereotype.
She adds: “In the modern world people have extremely busy lives and, twinned with that, can be very inexperienced when it comes to buying and selling property. I have only moved house three or four times in my life.
“And of course there are different challenges that come with different sales so it’s really important to have an estate agent who not only cares but who has the expertise to resolve any issues that may come up.
“Combine that with excellent communication - as the team at Harrison Murray have always demonstrated - and the end result is an estate agency you can trust and rely on.”
