When shop fitting company manager Steve Roizer contacted the Syston branch of Harrison Murray Estate Agency (part of The Nottingham) for help in selling his house little did he know what was in store.

Steve and wife Jayne were looking for a swift and uneventful sale of their property in the Leicestershire town to build the foundations for a move to a new home in nearby Rothley.

What happened next was far from that, as a series of unfortunate circumstances saw the in-demand property ‘sell’ no less than four times. A few months later a sale was concluded, leaving Steve and Jayne to praise the estate agents and sales progressor who got it over the finish line.

Dad-of-two Steve takes up the tale: “We had met Harrison Murray property sales manager Paul Battisson previously when we viewed a property, and were impressed with his manner and expertise. That persuaded us to sell our home with the company.

“We visited the office in Syston and found even more excellent customer service and friendliness from assistant branch manager Louise Smith and the team there.

“The house then ‘sold’ four times. Amongst other things there was a collapsed chain due to someone owning two properties and not declaring one of them and one family who were very keen but then pulled out at the very last minute without reason.

“Throughout our frustration the branch staff supported Jayne and I with unwavering professionalism. What is great about Harrison Murray is that they have a dedicated sales progression team - which the vast majority of estate agents don’t - who kept us informed of every twist and turn, even when it was bad news.

“Sales progressor Jan Szablewska communicated with us at least once a week - more when there were updates - and in the end held the key to unlocking the sale.

“After all the twists and turns she, in conjunction with the Syston branch team, suggested putting the house back on the market and giving it a fresh impetus. It was a big decision to make but we were guided through the advantages of doing so and the Harrison Murray team got it right as it immediately attracted new interest and was sold within four days.”

With the sale money in the bank, Steve and Jayne were able to fully focus on their new home in Rothley and to reflect on the sales experience and make a recommendation.

Steve adds: “Whether the news was good or bad, Harrison Murray were communicative and personable throughout. They make you feel like part of the family.

“There were many ups and downs - at one point it felt like it was mainly downs - all of which were out of their control, but they helped keep our spirits high and assured us they would help sell the property.
