A local cricket team are bowled over after we stepped in to sponsor their kit.
Our Matlock branch recently handed over £600 to young players from Darley Dale CC.
The money is being used to kit out the club’s junior membership of over 80 boys and girls in new shirts – all bearing the logos of the society and Harrison Murray Estate Agency (part of The Nottingham).
Darley Dale CC junior co-ordinator Stuart Rudkin said: “It’s a fantastic gesture by a company that prides itself on being involved with the local communities in and around where it trades.
“We are a community amateur sports club that relies almost entirely on donations, so this level of sponsorship is extremely helpful in supporting us in our aim of providing the opportunity for youngsters to learn, play and enjoy the game of cricket in a safe environment. On behalf of the club I’d like to say a big thank you to The Nottingham.”
Building society manager Steve Smith added: “It’s fantastic to be able to bring smiles to so many young faces and we are delighted to have teamed up with Darley Dale CC.
“We pride ourselves on supporting the communities in which we have branches so to witness happy youngsters wearing their new shirts, complete with our logos, is very satisfying.”
